What were the main ideas we learned this past week?

I learned a few things this past week. I learned to look deeper into things than just the surface. For example, the Twilight Zone activity really stretched my mind in a way I don't usually do. The visual text didn't give my answer so in my group, we had to think a little harder and analyze more to answer our big question. From that I think it helped us immensely.

In digital media, I learned how to take constructive criticism well. Getting insight and perspective from others. For the show my group and I do, called Oiler Zone, that project takes a little work and preparation as well as determination. We only have a week to do each episode and have it done by Friday, so time management is a big thing. Everyday, I'm busy working. I'd rather be busy than doing nothing. I really do feel accomplished at the end of the week. I get to see all the work in each episode, just last night I put in 5 hours of editing for our new show to finish it. That's more than I originally had planned but I love that type of stuff. Great things don't just happen, you have to work for it. I don't want things good when things can be great, ya know? I learned dedication is important with this project but also with any other class work. I'm going to try to keep my work ethic up for the rest of the year. Hopefully be better than I was yesterday. That's my goal, to always progress.

What do I still need to work on more?

My group has been working really diligently this past week. Some days we may fall short on the reading part or something. That never stopped us though, each day we try to progress. I still have to finish the book and finish up the presentation with my group. If for some reason we don't finish up the presentation today, we will have to finish it this weekend. It's shared with all of us so we all can contribute something. We just have to keep up working as a group and so far it has been working pretty well.

How was my participation in the learning process this week?

I contributed to my group every possible way. I'm the leader so I have to understand what's going on and tell my group members. It really isn't too hard but the key is to listen to the teacher and follow the directions. My participation is good. I'm going to continue that for the oncoming weeks. I have to keep up with the reading The Alchemist to be able to participate further.

I learned to really appreciate my own work. I have received a lot more praise from some of my friends on my wevideo. At first, I was a little unsure if I even liked my project. Now with some back up from friends and family, I started to grow to love my hard work I put into the video.

I also learned that it feels good to help as much as I can with other classmates. I have helped them with videos and recording. I guess that's a perk to getting done early. That leads to me learning if I work hard early and get projects and other assignments done then that makes it a lot less stressful for me. I used to procrastinate until the last day and I would be stressed and freaking out. Now I learned, if I get it done sooner, I do not need to rush my work and worry about it later.

I learned something about myself that I most likely wouldn't have without this class. I opened up with the This I Believe story we had to write. I wrote about how music saved my life and how it can save someone's life in general. That wasn't an easy topic for me because the story was personal and I honestly didn't want to talk about it at first. In the end, I know I picked the right choice of topic because I could show emotion and passion.

The few people that I showed my story to so far said it was very well done. So all my second guessing went away. I presented a side I don't normally show and it lets people know more about me. I learned about leadership of my own work. I took a stand for something that I believed in and it feels pretty good.

I also learned the internet program of Wevideo. It's an easy to use video editing program and I'm glad we learned it. I could use it in the future as well.
