Alexie, Sherman. The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian. New York: Hachette Book Group, Inc. 2007. Print.

The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian is about a boy named Junior who lives on a reservation and is in high school. It also depicts the all the difficulties he has to go through. Junior was born with medical problems and gets bullied often. He realizes if he stays in the reservation he will have no hope with a bright future. So he then enrolls in a racist, white high school to start a new life. It is not as easy as he thought it would be but he knows this is the only way to gain hope. This new school gives hope according to the author. Many kids are successful if they go there so the boy is hoping to be one of those kids. This book shows adventure through the eyes of the author with humor and wit. If you like a funny book that is an easy read, this is a great choice for you.

T.I.E.E. is an acronym that can help your writing and improve your body paragraph. T stands for Topic Sentence. I stands for Intro to Evidence. E stands for Evidence and the second E stands for Elaborate. To explain it all, your topic sentence should intrigue your readers and grab their attention. Intro to evidence should state what your topic is and what your are going to focus directly on. Evidence should be quotes and references about that particular topic. Lastly elaborate and go into detail about your topic. If you follow this method, your paper should be a lot better. I personally followed it somewhat. I didn't even know about it and I would say I followed it

My topic of my paper is about the negative impacts of video games. My mentor text is http://www.healthguidance.org/entry/11051/1/The-Impact-of-Video-Games-on-Children.html
http://psychcentral.com/news/2012/12/11/negative-effects-of-violent-video-games-may-build-over-time/48918.html
Also I have prior knowledge and I'm going to use some of my brain to dish out some facts I've known over the years.

My name's Giovanni Bartlett. Many call me Gio and either one is fine by me. I'm 50% Italian, which a lot of my friends think is cool so I guess that's cool then. I love music! I would say I'm an avid music listening enthusiast. I pretty much made that up, but I think it sounds neat. Hip hop is definitely my favorite type of music.
What do I expect from this class? Good Question. I hope my skills in reading and writing improve because it's an English class so that's kind of the point. I hope we don't have to read lame boring books. I don't mind reading but if it's uninteresting then it's harder for me to finish. I do pretty well in English classes so I plan on continuing that for this trimester.
